Hello Jason! Nice to have you on our pages! You’ve recently appeared in shows like Hacks (HBO), Pam & Tommy (Hulu), Criminal Minds (CBS), Insatiable (Netflix), Kidding (Showtime), Days of Our Lives (Peacock), and Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC)… So, tell us, how did we manage to catch such a busy man like you? How are you, and what does your typical day look like?

JASON Haha! Thank you. I try to stay as busy as I can. Acting has always been my dream so I am very fortunate that I can continue to stay employed as often as I do. It definitely isn’t easy. It’s a bit of a struggle, especially now-a-days with the industry still recovering from covid, the strikes and now the economy. I am truly very grateful.

If I’m not working on set, a typical day for me is very boring. I usually wake up, have a protein shake for breakfast and head straight to the gym. I try to take care of my body with the same meticulous care that I take care of my career. It is, after all, a very important tool that actors have to use for their craft. Then after the gym I come home, shower, have some lunch and spend the rest of the day surfing the casting websites for new auditions while either watching TV or hanging out with my boyfriend or friends.

What’s an interesting fact about yourself that you’d like to share with NUBRO readers?

JASON An interesting fact about myself is that English is actually my second language. I am a first generation Cuban American so I learned to speak Spanish first and am still very fluent. My parents struggled very hard to give me the opportunity at a better life and it’s that struggles that I attest my work ethic to. They were the ones that instilled an insatiable drive in me that has helped propel me forward in entertainment. My mom always said, “I don’t care if you want to be a garbage man. You better be the best garbage man there is.” It’s a bit more poetic in Spanish I believe.

What’s your dream role?

JASON My dream role has always been to either play a vicious sociopathic serial killer, or a vampire. Which I guess is also a vicious sociopathic killer. I just think it’s a role that no-one would see coming from me and I truly believe I can knock it out of the park. It would be very interesting to try to delve into the mind of someone who experiences those tendencies because those thoughts have always seemed so foreign to me. As an actor, I try to understand human nature as closely as possible and that is one type of human that I have yet to understand or explore.

Do you think an explicit photoshoot could harm an actor’s career in any way?

JASON Absolutely. Unfortunately, there is still a huge stigma when it comes to that kind of photography and a respectable acting career. It is still seen as low-brow for some reason and yet it is the type of media that is most widely consumed. Maybe it will change one day. There is a bit more full frontal male nudity emerging in the arts which is refreshing to see given that women have been the subject of such exploitation for so long. I think the more we see regular human bodies the less eroticized they will become.

Tell us about this shoot with Studio Pegasus. Where and how did it take place? Any interesting behind-the-scenes moments?

JASON My shoot with Pegasus took place at his apartment in West Hollywood. He and his husband have a beautiful sun-lit apartment that perfectly encapsulates the Hollywood vibe. It is cozy, has large windows, and is immaculately decorated. Pegasus is a true professional in every sense of the word. And he is such an inspired artist. We got to play around for a few hours with lighting, colors, wardrobe (lack thereof). He made me feel incredibly comfortable and very sexy. I almost wish we had captured some behind the scenes videos too so that everyone could share in the experience. It was a great vibe.

What concept for a photoshoot would you love to bring to life?

JASON I have always wanted to do a dark fantasy type of shoot. Something in the realm of fallen angels, vampires, or sexy werewolves. A photoshoot where I can use both my acting skills combined with the photographers skills to bring a character to life. Maybe some fake blood and some angel Wongs would be fun. If you know anybody that would be willing to shoot that, please put me in contact with them! Let’s shoot!

You’ve probably had some intimate scenes in your film career! What was the most memorable one?

JASON It’s always funny when people ask questions like this because if you’ve ever been ons et for one of these they are not very sexy or very steamy. They are methodical and very calculated. There is an intimacy coordinator on set making sure that every feels very safe and protected. The actions in the scene are very carefully rehearsed and there is no room for free exploration for everyone’s safety. So what you see, down to the placement of each actor’s hand has been predetermined and staged. There are also about seven people in the room with you watching and you shoot the scene several times from different angles. Everyone is careful not to push anyone’s boundaries or show anything they’re not supposed to.

That being said, my most memorable scenes have to be from “Open To It” which is on Amazon Prime, AppleTV and OutTV. The second season is airing soon so make sure to catch up with the first season. It’s a fun sex comedy about a throuple that is experimenting with opening up their relationship to a third person. Its light-hearted, funny and has a few sexy scenes.

You’re an openly gay actor, and it’s always great when someone in the public eye isn’t afraid to be their true self. Was coming out difficult for you, and have you ever faced challenges because of your sexuality?

JASON Luckily, coming out wasn’t a huge event for me. I have very loving parents and a great support system. I know that is not the case for everyone and that is so disheartening. But, I have absolutely faced many challenges because of my sexuality. The biggest one being that my first agent out here in Los Angeles dropped me because she said my voice was “too gay” and it just wasn’t “marketable.” She can go kick rocks for all I care. I have made a steady career for myself since and will continue to do so without her help. I am very fortunate to currently be represented by two wonderful gay men who have been very supportive of my career.

What’s the most important thing when it comes to great sex?

JASON Listen, sex is great and everyone loves having it. It is also so incredibly easy to find. Especially in Los Angeles. But the most important thing when it comes to great sex is a massive….connection. Haha.

No seriously. Establishing a deep connection with an intimate partner is so crucial to a good experience. It’s the only way to continue to have meaningful sexual experiences. Otherwise, you’re left feeling empty and unsatisfied. I love when I connect intellectually and emotionally to my partner. It feels symbiotic in a sense.

Have you ever recorded a video or taken explicit photos while having sex?

JASON Haha! Who hasn’t?

What’s your attitude toward porn?

JASON I think everybody watches or has watched porn at least once in their lives and if they say they don’t… well, I don’t necessarily believe them. Porn is a huge part of the entertainment industry and it is unjustly vilified. Everyone consumes it and yet wants it kept in the shadows. I respect sex workers very much and think they are treated unfairly in the eyes of the public. They also need a proper union and need someone to stand up for them. I have heard horror stories from friends in that industry about being taken advantage of and it is extremely distressing. I think this is why the OnlyFans community has been doing so well. They were able to take the industry into their own hands and perform on their terms. I thinks long as it is done respectfully and the consumers are also respectful then I have no problem with people who entertain the idea of joining the industry.

When do you feel the most sexually confident?

JASON I feel most sexually confident when I am well rested! It’s half a joke but also true. If I’ve gone to the gym that day, I had a nice meal and have slept at least eight hours then I feel unstoppable. Also, on vacation. I feel very sexy when I’m on vacation.

What’s harder—getting naked in front of the camera or revealing intimate details in an interview?

JASON Definitely revealing intimate details in an interview. It’s more personal. Usually being naked on camera is part of a character and is a bit disconnected from my sense of self. I’m able to put on the skin of another character and portray a sense of confidence that I don’t walk around with every day. Anyone who knows me in real life knows I’m a bit of a shut-in. I don’t have too many friends and I don’t go out often. So, having to share so many intimate details is kind of scary. Especially because you never know how they are going to be perceived.
